Rachael Eagle and Paul Broomfield have managed to string together a solid showing for their Doric Motor Racing team recently in the second round of the NSW Stadium Motocross series at Wagga Intentional Speedway.
Heading into the round Eagle had high hopes of a top three finish overall in the Women’s Lites class, but fell one place shy of that goal by placing fifth in the final after a turbulent run through her qualifying heat races on her # 144 Honda CRF 250cc. The Macarthur based rider registered a sixth, fourth and a fifth leading up to the 5-lap final on the challenging Wagga layout, and at the completion of the meeting Eagle was placed fourth overall.
I would be lying if I said I wasn't a tad disappointed not to have reached my goals for this round (A top 3 finish), said Eagle. There were a few times during the heats where I made mistakes, which included a bad start and having my bike stall on me during one of the events, so I would count myself a bit unlucky in ways. I proved I had the speed, it was just that I needed everything to fall into place at the exact time especially since the races are short in distance.
At glance of Eagle's round two showing, the 28-year-old was pleased to have got through the meeting in one piece and is now looking forward to the next round at Maitland Showground early next month.
Meanwhile, Eagle's Doric Motor Racing / Motorsphere team mate, Camden's Paul Broomfield made a welcomed return to racing last weekend after close to six months on the sidelines.
The next appearance for Eagle and Broomfield's will be at the third round of the NSW Stadium Motocross series at Maitland Showground on Saturday, May 7.
