At her second ever dirt track event, Tamara Gray took victory aboard her YZ250F in the women’s all power class at Mike Hatcher Race Park over the weekend.

For the first time this year the biggest event on the Queensland Dirt Trackcalendar The Gold Coast Cup, hosted a women’s class after a successful turn out of girls at the recent Queensland Dirt Track Championships.

Gray, who only last weekend reclaimed her Queensland Motocross Title, dominated the two days of races, winning all six of her heat race’s in great form.

“I definitely was more used to the surface and track this time around, I am slowly getting the hang of the different rear tyre that we use.” Gray commented.

“I got the concrete start worked out towards the end of the weekend, and I was able to get nearly all of the hole shots
which is definitely the key to this type of racing.”

“The couple of times where I didn’t quite get the start I wanted I was able to find away around the other rider’s quite easily.”

“As the conditions of the track deteriorated and became rough I definitely felt more at home, especially when some ruts started to appear in the corners. It was a natural reaction to jump strait in and rail them, I just had to fight the urge to stand up while braking over the breaking bumps.” Gray joked.

Brooke Thiemann was not able to appear at this weekends event due to a prior arrangement she had made.
