Rachael Eagle along with 11 other women recently visited the Australian Institute of Sport for the 2008 Multi Discipline Motorcycling Camp.

During this camp the women were exposed to some serious training that the elite athletes of Australia are subjected to. The women started their day by 7am in the morning and did not get to bed till around 10.30pm each night.

"The camp was a great way for me to judge my fitness, and see where my downfalls are", says Eagle.

Along with lectures from the experienced staff at the AIS, Rachael and the other women were also subjected to fitness tests similar to that of the elite athletes preparing for Beijing. The women participated in Body Fat tests, shuttle run, endurance strength test, and learnt about recovery along with other topics.

"The recovery session for me was a real eye opener. When they told us that we were going to get into a 'plunge pool' that had a temperature of 10-12 degrees I thought that they were joking, but they weren't. We got into a hot spa for 2 mins, followed by 2 mins in the 'plunge pool'. This was to be done about 3 times, however I found the spa too hot so decided to stay in the plunge pool for 20 mins. It is amazing what the mind can overcome", states Eagle.

Eagle has stated that from this camp she has come away with many things that she now can work on towards a successful 2008 race and coaching season. She is looking forward to the start of the 2008 Australian Super Motoard series which is due to kick off in June at Ipswich, QLD.
