rachaelThe final round of the Australian Supermoto Championships were held on the 28th – 30th November 2008 in Western Australia. Much to Rachael Eagle’s delight, she has ridden away with the overall win in the Women’s class in impressive style.

The Alpinestar’s Honda Australia rider only had to remain upright for all 4 races to take the win, however that was the easy way out. The layout of the track was very tight with not many over taking places, therefore it all came down to good starts in the end.

“I was not happy with just staying upright. As we were racing in with the S3 Championship class I wanted to push myself and qualify in front of some of the guys”, states Eagle

Eagle pushed hard in the opening stages of the meeting which paid off for her. For the 2nd race she qualified 10th on the grid from 16 riders.

“I was doing .56 sec lap times and the guys were doing .54sec. I had sent my goal of pushing my awesome Honda CRF 450 and achieving .54sec by the end of the meeting”, says Eagle

In the dying stages of the meeting, Eagle knew that she had nothing to lose and pushed hard to remain in front of the guys. With the track temperature reaching 55 degrees throughout the day, it was going to be hard work, but Eagle knew she had it in her to pull it off.

In the final race of the meeting, Eagle managed to beat the goal she had set for herself, and completed a 0.53sec lap time.

“For me this was so exciting. I have a little habit of relaxing towards the end of the day, but knew I just had to keep going. To get a .53sec lap time and matching some of the guys, was awesome. Now I need to carry this forward to 2009 and aim to qualify in the Championship classes more often”, states Eagle

Eagle would like to thank the following companies who have made Eagle’s race season a truly remarkable one, without which the outstanding results would not have been possible. Eagle will have a break over Christmas before starting to prepare for the 2009 series.
