Round 2 of The WEM Women’s Australian MX Championship was held yesterday at Newry Victoria.

Preparation of the track was up to a high standard with riders enjoying the very technical track even though it was rough.

21 female riders showed up to the event including World Champion Katherine Prumm. In race 1 Husqvarna Ashlea Bates had a bad start taking off 3rd last, but the power of her TC250 pushed her into 7th position by the first corner.

Ashlea worked her way up to 5th position and tried to keep smooth and consistent and finished 5th.

"Being a concrete start, my back tyre just lit up at the start so I put my head down and worked my way through the pack. I ended up with arm pump so I just tried to ride smoothly to finish the race." Said Batesy./p>

In race 2 Ashlea stormed into 2nd position into the first corner with Adelia Barton in the lead. While coming through turn 3, Amy Boyd collided into Adelia going into the corner. With Amy now in the lead, all eyes were on Prumm who was trying to get from 4th place back to the lead.

Ashlea kept smooth and consistent while the front runners were changing positions. Ashlea finished 4th in the race with a 3rd overall on the day. The final round will be held at Lakes NSW on 22nd June. The tension will be on as Prumm will not attend and The Australian title will be up for grabs.
